Philadelphia sports radio personality Mike Missanelli was arrested early Wednesday morning at his home in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, following an alleged domestic incident involving his fiancée. Authorities confirmed Missanelli was taken into custody after police responded to a reported dispute.
The incident unfolded after a 911 hang-up call prompted police to respond to Missanelli’s residence around 12:10 a.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered both Missanelli and his fiancée, who provided differing accounts of the events that transpired. According to police reports, Missanelli informed officers that he and his fiancée had a "scuffle" during an argument related to their engagement. He alleged that his fiancée struck him in the chest, though law enforcement officials stated they observed no visible injuries on Missanelli.
Conversely, Missanelli’s fiancée presented a different narrative to the police. She alleged that Missanelli struck her on the left side of her face and head during the altercation. Police reported observing a laceration with fresh blood and swelling near her ear, which they indicated supported her account of the incident.
Following the investigation at the scene, Missanelli was arrested and subsequently charged with one misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary offense of harassment. He was later released after a preliminary arraignment, with unsecured bail set at $10,000. A no-contact order was issued as part of the legal proceedings, and a preliminary hearing in Montgomery County has been scheduled for April 22.
The case has rapidly garnered significant public attention, largely due to Missanelli’s extensive public profile and long-standing career in the sports media landscape. For decades, Missanelli has been a prominent fixture in the Philadelphia market, having worked across various platforms including print journalism, radio, and television. His career began as a journalist with The Philadelphia Inquirer before he transitioned into radio. He gained widespread recognition as a host on SportsRadio 94 WIP and later moved to 97.5 The Fanatic, where his shows consistently achieved high ratings in the region.
In recent years, Missanelli has also become known for incorporating political commentary into his broadcasts and social media presence. He has been openly critical of President Donald Trump and his supporters, frequently sharing his political opinions online. In one notable post, he reportedly described President Trump as a "misogynistic pig who abuses women" and used strong language to critique those who support him, as reported by Conservative Brief. These past statements are now resurfacing and drawing additional scrutiny in light of the current allegations against him.
Missanelli’s employer, The Fideri News Network, which operates the On Pattison podcast, has already taken action in response to the arrest. The network announced that Missanelli would be removed from programming for the duration of the legal process. In a public statement, the company affirmed its stance, stating it "condemns all acts of domestic violence" and would continue to monitor the evolving situation closely.
As the legal proceedings move forward, the incident is expected to have substantial consequences for Missanelli’s professional career and his public standing. No final determination has yet been made regarding the charges, and the case remains ongoing.
