In an unexpected turn of events, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to advise House Republicans to move forward with the release of documents pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein. This stance marks a notable departure from his earlier position on the issue.
"Republicans BACK ON POINT" - President Donald Trump, emphasizing his desire for the GOP to refocus on their achievements and goals.
In his post, President Trump asserted that the Republican Party has "nothing to hide" and emphasized the necessity to transcend what he described as a "Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics." The President suggested that the preoccupation with the Epstein files is a ploy to divert attention from the Republican Party's accomplishments.
The matter is expected to progress to the House floor this week for a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act, authored by bipartisan representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY). This legislative move follows the successful completion of a discharge petition, which mandates the Justice Department to unveil all remaining documents related to Epstein's case.
The petition has seen uniform support from House Democrats and was also endorsed by Republican representatives, including Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Lauren Boebert (R-CO). President Trump's latest directive contrasts with reports from the New York Post, which indicated his initial dissatisfaction with the Republican signatories.
Days preceding this development, the House Oversight Committee made public over 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate. President Trump had also previously announced his intention to instruct the Justice Department and FBI to probe Epstein's ties with several high-profile individuals.
In Sunday's post, the President downplayed his concern regarding the Epstein controversy, emphatically stating, "I DON'T CARE!" His primary focus, according to the post, is to realign Republicans with their core agenda and "Record Setting Achievements."
Accusing Democrats of wielding the Epstein case as a political weapon, President Trump suggested that any incriminating evidence would have surfaced prior to the "Landslide Election Victory" if it existed. He warned Republicans against being manipulated and labeled the Epstein situation a "TRAP" and a "curse" for Democrats.
The President's message concluded with a call for party unity and a return to the rallying mission to "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Contradicting the tone of his recent call for transparency, President Trump also expressed frustration on Truth Social, disparaging some of his supporters who raised questions about the Epstein files. Despite the outcry, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson has dismissed the allegations tied to Epstein as baseless.
