African Fish Documented Climbing 50-Foot Waterfall

Researchers have documented a species of tiny African fish scaling a 50-foot waterfall in the Congo Basin.

A species of small African fish, identified as the shellear Parakneria thysi, has been observed climbing a 50-foot waterfall in the upper Congo Basin of Central Africa. This marks the first documented instance of this particular fish species exhibiting such behavior on the Luvilombo Falls.

The fish, described as tiny and "ziti-sized," were reportedly able to ascend the significant height of the waterfall. One report indicated the climb took approximately 10 hours for the fish to reach the top.

This discovery highlights unique adaptations within the aquatic ecosystem of the region. The findings were published in Scientific Reports. This is a developing story and will be updated as details emerge.
