The probe, revealed by a former government official who spoke to Fox News on condition of anonymity, alleges that approximately $100 million was misappropriated from the nation's critical energy infrastructure amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
Termed “Operation Midas,” the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine's investigation has been ongoing for more than 15 months, with results only recently being made public. It is reported that the illicit activities may have commenced at the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
Central to the scandal is Tymur Mindich, a businessman with past co-ownership ties to Zelenskyy through the entertainment company Kvartal 95. Investigators have identified Mindich as a pivotal figure in the network, and upon searching his residence, authorities found significant amounts of cash and a gold-plated toilet, symbolizing the excesses of the alleged corruption.
The former official underscored the personal connection between Zelenskyy and Mindich, citing their long professional history and shared business in entertainment production.
