Former President Donald Trump has expressed support for an expanded FBI investigation into what he refers to as the “Jeffrey Epstein hoax,” linking it to alleged misconduct by U.S. intelligence agencies. During an interview on “Just the News, No Noise,” Trump proposed the inclusion of the Epstein case in a broader federal probe, which is scrutinizing alleged abuses from 2016 through 2024, encompassing multiple election cycles.
Trump voiced his opinion that the investigation should be comprehensive, saying, “I think they could look at all of it. It’s all the same scam.” He hinted at the possibility of Attorney General Pam Bondi appointing a special prosecutor to oversee the process and committed to declassifying pivotal documents to facilitate the investigation.
The president's call for renewed scrutiny comes amid persistent doubts over the official narrative surrounding Epstein's death. Trump echoed the concerns of his supporters, who have long sought transparency in the Epstein saga, particularly regarding the lack of a client list. Despite efforts to declassify related information during his term, Trump criticized certain Republicans for lacking perseverance and falling in line with Democrat-led narratives.
The former president also took aim at past and present FBI leadership, singling out James Comey and Chris Wray for what he deems as partisan exploitation of federal authority. In the pursuit of transparency, Trump has pledged to release two classified annexes. The first, associated with the DOJ inspector general’s review of the Clinton email investigation, allegedly contains overlooked information by the FBI. The second annex arises from Special Counsel John Durham’s inquiry, purporting to demonstrate Hillary Clinton's approval of a plan to falsely link Trump to Russia. “I will absolutely declassify it,” he affirmed.
While Trump's stance resonates with sections of his base, it has also faced scrutiny from critics who question the motives behind this renewed push for investigation.
