Salem Radio Network is set to undergo a significant change in its weekday talk radio lineup, starting January 5. Scott Jennings, a seasoned political commentator and CNN contributor, will expand his presence on the airwaves, taking over a two-hour block from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This adjustment marks a notable increase from his current one-hour segment at 2:00 p.m.
The reshuffle also introduces Alex Marlow, the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News, who will occupy the noon to 1:00 p.m. time slot. Together, Jennings and Marlow will command the critical midday hours that were once the domain of conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh, who captivated audiences from noon to 3:00 p.m. for decades until his passing in 2021.
This programming shift coincides with "The Charlie Kirk Show," co-hosted by Turning Point USA's Andrew Kolvet and Blake Neff, transitioning to an exclusive presence on the Salem Podcast Network. While the show will no longer maintain its radio broadcast, it aims to continue its influence through the podcast format.
Scott Jennings acknowledged the transition on social media, expressing gratitude toward Kolvet and Turning Point USA for their management of Charlie Kirk's radio legacy. "These are some of the most important hours in talk radio," Jennings stated, recognizing the significance of the timeslot he is set to fill.
In response to Salem's programming decision, Kolvet remarked that Jennings and Marlow were the "perfect hosts" for the radio segment, while maintaining a positive relationship with Salem through the podcast continuation of "The Charlie Kirk Show."
A Salem representative shared optimistic projections for the new lineup's reach, expecting over 300 radio stations to carry the programs and deliver content to an audience exceeding 1.2 million weekly listeners. Additionally, the shows are projected to attract over a million listeners through podcast platforms.
Jennings, who has significant political experience, including his tenure as a White House aide during the George W. Bush administration, has seen a surge in visibility through his CNN appearances. Known for his spirited defenses of President Trump, Jennings has become a prominent conservative voice in media.
At a recent event at Liberty University, Jennings spoke on the foundations of Western civilization, emphasizing the importance of truth, individual responsibility, and the rule of law. He argued that rights originate from God and criticized the left for attempting to assert themselves as the highest authority in individuals' lives.
Jennings concluded his remarks with a call to faith and Western values, asserting that adherence to these principles would ensure a prosperous future for Western civilization.
