My daughter was not my daughter. Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in it."
The five-year-old was found unresponsive in a field a short distance from the home of a family member who had been responsible for her care. Following the discovery, she was rushed to a hospital for treatment and spent approximately a week under medical supervision.
Though she has been released from the hospital, the child's mother has stated that her daughter remains traumatized and faces an arduous journey towards physical and emotional recovery. The mother described the profound impact of the trauma on her daughter, revealing to WOIO her daughter's chilling words upon waking: "She was screaming when she woke up, she said, 'They killed me.' She thought she was dead."
