Timothy Valentin, a 30-year-old resident of Fort Washington, Maryland, and a former Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer, has been indicted on more than 30 felony charges across Virginia and Maryland in a sprawling sexual assault investigation. The charges, which include rape, sodomy, abduction, and unlawful filming, pertain to alleged assaults that occurred between 2024 and 2025. Valentin was arrested in Alexandria, Virginia, in December 2025 and has been held in custody without bond since January.
"Detectives learned he took women on dates, where it is believed he may have added substances to their drinks before sexually assaulting them." — Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire
Valentin served with the Metropolitan Police Department from 2017 until his resignation in 2022. During his tenure, he received a ribbon of valor and was recognized on a commemorative plaque for his actions during the January 6, 2021, Capitol protests. Authorities have stated there is no evidence of wrongdoing during his time as a police officer.
According to Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire, the alleged crimes involved premeditated assaults targeting women Valentin reportedly met through online dating platforms. Investigators allege that Valentin would groom victims, often using alcohol or other substances to incapacitate them. "Detectives learned he took women on dates, where it is believed he may have added substances to their drinks before sexually assaulting them," Chief McGuire stated.
Court documents detail disturbing tactics, including the administration of sedatives. In one specific case, a victim tested positive for bromazolam, a potent benzodiazepine. WUSA 9 reported that Valentin allegedly recorded dozens of these assaults and sometimes used aliases such as "Rico" and "Teo" when interacting with victims.
The superseding indictment against Valentin lists a comprehensive range of serious sexual and related offenses. These include four counts of rape by force and four counts of rape by incapacitation, pointing to allegations of both physical coercion and the use of substances to compromise victims' ability to consent. Additionally, the indictment includes two counts each of adulteration and sodomy, two counts of abduction with intent to defile, and one count of aggravated sexual battery by incapacitation. Further charges in the superseding indictment encompass two counts of sodomy by force or incapacitation and 15 counts of unlawful filming. Separately, new charges were filed in December 2025 related to another alleged assault, further expanding the scope of the ongoing case.
The multi-jurisdictional investigation spans Alexandria in Virginia, and Montgomery County and Prince George’s County in Maryland. Authorities in Montgomery County allege that Valentin assaulted a woman in Takoma Park after they met at bars in Bowie and Silver Spring. Prince George’s County officials have identified six additional victims within their jurisdiction, bringing the total number of alleged victims to a significant figure across the region.
Valentin's arrest in December 2025 occurred in Alexandria after an automatic license plate reader tracked his vehicle. He had been entered into the National Crime Information Center system as a wanted felon, as reported by the Daily Voice. Since his arrest, he has remained in custody, with bond denied by the court in January.

Public awareness, education on digital safety, and robust support systems for survivors remain essential as the investigations continue to unfold.
