Newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani finds himself at the center of a political strategy crafted by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), as internal documents, recently made public, detail a comprehensive agenda the group expects the mayor to implement. The revelations come from a leak of the DSA’s Anti-War Working Group strategy file, which outlines a series of policy demands that hinge on the organization's continued support for Mamdani's administration.
The documents, dated November 2 and titled “AWWG Palestine Policy Meeting Agenda & Notes,” were obtained by Just the News. They include explicit directives aimed at severing the city’s financial ties with Israel. Among the stipulated conditions are divesting city pension funds from Israeli bonds, ending municipal contracts with companies linked to Israel, and banning Israeli products from city-operated grocery stores.
In an unprecedented move, the DSA also proposes legal action against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and active IDF officials, accusing them of war crimes and suggesting their arrest should they enter New York City. Moreover, the documents call for the revocation of nonprofit status for organizations that support the Israel Defense Forces.
The strategy emphasizes a proactive approach, instructing supporters to "provide a plan for him to implement" and to "pressure him to staff with people whose values are aligned." The notes also detail plans for coordinating with sympathetic legislators and using campaign volunteers to enforce DSA priorities within City Hall.
This incident is not isolated to New York City. Similar ideological requirements have been discovered in DSA endorsement questionnaires from Seattle and the Metro DC chapters, as revealed by The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI.
The leak coincides with Mayor Mamdani's recent electoral victory, where he secured over 50 percent of the vote, defeating opponents including former New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. In his victory speech at Brooklyn’s Paramount Theater, Mamdani declared, "I am Muslim. I am a democratic socialist. And most damning of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this." His remarks were followed by a direct address to former President Donald Trump, challenging him to "turn the volume up."
The day after Mamdani's victory, Trump responded with a message to his supporters, suggesting that Mamdani's election would be dealt with, though he did not specify how. On Truth Social, Trump stated, "Our movement is far from over, in fact our fight has only just begun."
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an early endorser of Mamdani, commented on his win as a significant signal to the Democratic establishment, framing it as a rebuke of traditional party politics and a call to action against fascism.
As the story unfolds, the DSA's influence on Mayor Mamdani's policy decisions remains to be seen, with the potential for significant impact on New York City's local and international relationships.
