Political commentator and host of the "Candace Owens Show," Candace Owens, has recently brought forth a series of serious allegations against Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a conservative non-profit organization. These claims follow the tragic death of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University in Provo, Utah. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, is currently in custody for the alleged crime.
Since Kirk's assassination, Owens has taken to social media to disseminate various theories pertaining to the incident. With a rapidly growing following, her posts have garnered widespread attention and have been shared extensively across multiple platforms.
Owens first posited that Israel might have had a role in Kirk's death, citing Kirk's refusal to visit the country and his declining of negotiations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. She pointed out that Kirk had criticized the Israeli government just days before his demise, accusing it of intending to "ethnically cleanse" Gaza. Additionally, Owens revealed text exchanges from a group chat indicating Kirk's intention to withdraw from the "pro-Israel cause" after losing a Jewish donor following an event featuring Tucker Carlson, another vocal critic of the Israeli government.
Shifting focus, Owens then alleged that the Egyptian government was tracking movements associated with TPUSA events, referencing two aircraft with tail numbers SU-BTT and SU-BND. She later clarified that it was Erika Kirk, Charlie's wife, who was the target of this surveillance, rather than Kirk himself.
In a more recent development, Owens has accused TPUSA of betrayal and financial misconduct. During a conversation with comedian Russell Brand, she shared messages reportedly from Kirk, sent on the eve of his death, expressing fear for his life and implicating individuals within TPUSA. Although Owens stopped short of blaming the organization for Kirk's killing, she suggested that these internal concerns warranted investigation.
Furthermore, Owens claimed that TPUSA is under IRS investigation for financial fraud. She has called for donors to demand refunds from TPUSA, labeling the organization as "Godforsaken." However, these accusations have been refuted by the Treasury Department under President Donald Trump's administration. Officials offered a letter of vindication to the new TPUSA CEO, Erika Kirk, stating that the organization is not under federal inquiry. The Treasury official decried the necessity for such a request due to the "malicious lies and smears" facing Erika Kirk.
The controversy has caused a rift within conservative ranks and among supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement. TPUSA has extended an invitation to Owens for an open debate to address her allegations, but she has declined, citing a scheduling conflict.
