In Sierra Vista, Arizona, Paul Correa, 33, the former Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney for Cochise County, was arrested on allegations of filming a pre-teen girl at a local Target store. The incident, which occurred on December 17, 2025, has garnered significant attention due to Correa's former public role.
The father of the 12-year-old girl confronted Correa in the store's parking lot, accusing him of recording his daughter. Law enforcement body camera footage showed Correa in his vehicle with disheveled pants, looking at his phone. Despite denying the accusations, claiming he was shopping for a holiday party, Target's security footage allegedly shows Correa filming multiple juveniles inside the store.
Cochise County Attorney Lori Zucco, who dismissed Correa from his position last month, expressed the disturbing nature of the allegations. Zucco, a career prosecutor, cited a zero-tolerance policy for behavior that violates the ethical standards of her office. She emphasized that while Correa is entitled to due process, he could no longer serve in any capacity within her office.
The La Paz County Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case due to potential conflicts of interest. The charges against Correa include public sexual indecency, harassment with sexual motivation, and tampering with physical evidence. Investigators are also examining evidence that suggests there may be at least one additional victim.
Following the confrontation, police used license plate recognition technology to track and arrest Correa during a high-risk traffic stop in Benson on December 18. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed stuffed animals and unprescribed medication. Correa was taken to the Sierra Vista police station and later detained in Graham County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond. His next court appearance is set for January 26 before Judge Henry Whitmer of Yavapai County.
The alleged victim's actions were commended by Zucco, who highlighted the critical nature of coming forward in cases involving minors. The Cochise County Attorney's Office has since recused itself from the criminal investigation and will not comment further as authorities continue to investigate the full extent of Correa’s alleged actions.
