Federal authorities have intensified their efforts to solve the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old Tucson resident, after releasing new surveillance footage. The video, sourced from a Nest doorbell camera at Guthrie's home in the affluent Catalina Foothills, shows a masked individual twice visiting her property in the lead-up to her disappearance on February 1, 2026.
The first visit captured the suspect without a backpack, standing at Guthrie's front door. This initial encounter, believed to be a scouting attempt, was aborted when the suspect seemingly became aware of the camera's presence. Reports from those close to the investigation note that the individual then fled without taking further action.
However, the suspect returned for a second visit, this time taking measures to obscure the camera's view. The footage reveals the suspect tampering with the device and strategically placing branches to block the lens. The FBI has released these images publicly as part of the ongoing investigation, though the suspect's identity remains unknown.
The Guthrie home, located in a neighborhood known for its security and high-profile residents, has become the center of a significant federal case. The FBI has taken a proactive role, exemplified by the release of the surveillance photos and the recent increase of the reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's location, now at $100,000.
President Donald Trump has taken a personal interest in the case, issuing a direct warning to those responsible for Guthrie's disappearance. In a statement reported by Resist the Mainstream, the President indicated that the perpetrators could face the maximum federal consequences, hinting at the possibility of capital punishment if Guthrie is found deceased.
The case has garnered national attention, partly due to Nancy Guthrie’s relation to Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC's Today show. Nancy was last seen on January 31, after being dropped off at her home by family members.
As the investigation continues, the FBI urges anyone with information to come forward. The community remains on high alert, with local law enforcement and federal agents working in tandem to unravel the circumstances of Nancy Guthrie's abduction and ensure the safety of the area's residents.
